Law Firm IT Spending: Survey from ILTA

This Article is packed full of information…maybe more information than you have time to read! I wanted to point out a few surprises that caught my eye:

  1. 70% of Law firms are either currently using or actively searching for a cloud platform. Just a couple of years ago most law firms were waiting to hear the bar’s opinion on cloud technology. Because the opinions of the bar have been favorable, firms are moving more quickly to the Cloud.
  2. As far as Social Media goes; Linked in wins by a long shot (86%) vs. Twitter at 21% and Facebook 18%.
  3. The average annual technology expense per attorney was a bit surprising to me. 40% indicated they spend under $8,000 per attorney and 43% spend between $8,000-$17,000 per attorney. I expect these numbers will become lower as more firms adapt the cloud.
  4. Continued increases in Bring your own Device (BYOD). 86% of Surveyed firms have at some extent a BYOD policy, and lastly 85% of attorney’s report using a tablet on a daily basis.

I hope you found this useful and comments and suggest always welcome. Reference here for the full survey.  For more information on Cloud Technology offered by Office Network Online call 786-347-6109, reach out to us on twitter @ONOInTheCloud, or use the contact form on the right.
